There’s nothing quite like grabbing gears on a hand- or tank-shift machine. If you’ve done it, you also know that like grips, footpegs, a saddle, or any other part of the bike you touch a lot, having the right one matters. Lots of shift knobs don’t feel good in the hand. Some are the wrong shape, some the wrong size, others the wrong finish. Ultimately, a shift knob is a very personal piece of equipment. This mini shift knob might be just the ticket for you, though. It’s a small sphere of polished aluminum—just 1-3/8″ in diameter. It’s drilled and tapped to at least 5/8″ depth.
The thread pitch is 3/8″-24 shift levers, which is by far the common size found on most Harley-Davidsons, be they aftermarket hand shifters for a jockey or ratchet lid or factory tank-shift machines. The Mini is made in the USA and buffed to a high shine. It’s small and understated and is perfect for those who like fingertip shifts. It’s nearly dainty, but if you’re a “slap-and-slam” gear changer, this knob will take the abuse. Due to its light weight, it doesn’t place a lot of strain on your shift lever or transmission lid. Thread locker or a mechanical means of locking the knob in place (like a jam nut, available separately) is recommended.
Fitment
- Can be used on all Harley-Davidson Big Twin w/ tank-shift 1930-1978-1/2 or any shift lever with 3/8″-24 male threads
